Universities
A content partner for universities, not just a film crew. Book a 20 minute callSee our university workUniversities we work with
Most of our university work is repeat work with the same teams over several years.

One university, half a dozen audiences
Prospective students want to see themselves in the place. Alumni and donors want to see impact. Funders and government want evidence. Staff want to be represented fairly. Most universities commission for each of them one at a time, from whoever is free. We plan them as one system, so every piece sounds like the same institution.
Start with what the content needs to do
Most university briefs end with a list of deliverables. We start with the job the content needs to do: recruit, prove impact, explain the complex, record a moment, or keep your channels full. Each job has a format, refined over nearly a decade of making this work, with its own process, review rounds and published investment range.
Formats also combine, and each one scales within its range to fit the budget you have. A Flagship launch can supply a term’s worth of social content. A Documentary can become an annual series. Planned together, one production can serve several audiences at once.
Flagship Narrative
Student recruitment and brand
A focused, single message film built to compete for attention with people who have other options, whether that’s a prospective student or a potential partner.

Impact Film
Research impact and funder evidence
Built to prove outcomes, not just describe them. This is the brief behind most REF impact case studies, partnership renewals and funding bids.
Educational Content
Public engagement, outreach and teaching resources
Video built for the classroom. Content that brings technical research to the classroom, festivals and the public, with animation covering whatever no camera can reach.
Documentary
Institutional and field level stories
Contributors speaking in their own words, for funders, government, sector peers and journalists who discount anything that reads as marketing.
Full Project: University of Glasgow – Fast Fashion
Content Library
Everything that needs to happen year round
Open days, enrolment, graduation, research announcements and social content, planned so they sound like one institution across the academic year.

Not sure which fits?
That’s what our first call is for. We’ll listen to your audience, objective and channels, then recommend a format. We’ll honestly share our recommendation and the investment required, or if a smaller first step would serve you better.
“Their passion for storytelling is exactly why we continue to work with them. Their communication was excellent and every stage, from planning and filming to final delivery, was managed smoothly and professionally.“

Marketing Manager, Heriot-Watt University
Why a partner, not a crew
A crew shoots what it’s briefed to shoot, and for some jobs that’s the right service. But a crew is rarely still involved three projects later.
Tone, quality and message drift. Institutional knowledge gets rebuilt every time, from brand guidelines to who actually signs things off. And your team spends as long managing suppliers as making decisions.
We stay. We carry what we know about your institution from project to project, and we’ll tell you when a brief or a budget won’t do the job it’s meant to do.
The details that matter:
The things that stop university projects starting are production problems, and production problems have solutions.
Restricted access. At the Centre for Virus Research, lab space was limited and there was little existing footage. We coached staff to deliver to camera in short sections, so no teleprompters were needed in tight labs.
Contributors who aren’t performers. On Unseen Hands we ran on camera confidence workshops with researchers before filming anything. We then built everything around one clear structure, the journey of a blood sample, so every contributor knew their part.
Research you can’t film. The Living Lab science sat at molecular scale, so custom animation carried what no camera could reach, with filmed material telling the human story.
Scheduling. We plan around confirmed elements: script/questions approved, contributors named, access confirmed. Simple planning and trusted systems are how our university projects land on time.
Standard on every university project:
Single and secondary points of contact on our team and yours for direction and approval.
Structured review rounds through our online review system.
Captions and subtitles as standard.
Consent and safeguarding for every contributor.
Purchase orders and supplier onboarding.
Crew are first aid trained, production is risk assessed and insured
We’re a Living Wage Employer, Cyber Essentials and fully insured for your peace of mind.
“I work in an academic setting with folks who are more used to being behind a laboratory bench than a camera, and everyone comments on how relaxed the team make them feel, and how they actually end up enjoying being in the limelight! I also trust them implicitly with the vulnerable folks we work with, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them for any project no matter how big or small.“

Frequently Asked Questions:
Do you work with central marketing or with schools and departments?
Both. Some projects come from central marketing and communications, others from a school, research centre or funded programme.
Can you work through our procurement process?
Yes. We work to purchase orders and complete supplier onboarding as standard.
How do you make sure the science is right?
Academics review the script, or the animatic for animation, before production. They review the edit again before approval.
Can you work with students and vulnerable contributors?
Yes. Most of our contributors aren’t used to being on camera. We prepare them properly, handle consent if not already, and agree safeguarding in advance for anyone under 18 or at risk.
Do we need a brief before the call?
No. A draft brief or examples of work you like are welcome. You’ll have a short written summary of the call and clear next steps within one to three business days.
How much does it cost?
Each format has a published investment range, confirmed once scope and contributor access are locked.
Next step
It starts with a conversation, not a brief.
- A 20-minute call. We talk about what you’re making, who it’s for and your timeline. We don’t scope or price on the call.
- A recommended format and investment tier. We send a Project Engagement Form.
- Supplier set up, if needed. If we’re not already on your approved supplier list, we complete your onboarding.
- Purchase order and development. You raise a purchase order, and development starts.
