Charities we work with

Most of our work with charities is repeat work with the same teams over several years.

One charity, half a dozen audiences

Supporters want to see what their money does. People using your services want to recognise themselves and feel reassured. Funders want evidence, politicians want a reason to act, and volunteers want something worth sharing. Corporate partners want to be seen alongside the cause.

Most charities commission for each of them separately, against a deadline. We can work with you to plan it as one system, so every piece sounds like the same organisation.

Start with what the content needs to do

We start with the outcome the content needs to achieve: move people to act, prove what a service changes, explain what can’t be filmed, tell the story behind the work, or keep channels full all year. Each job has its own format, process, review rounds and published investment range. Formats can combine, and scale within their range to suit the budget.

Flagship Narrative

Campaigns, advocacy and Parliament

One focused film built to move people to act, from supporters to decision makers, with personal stories, trailers and social edits cut from the same production.

EXPLORE

Impact Film

Services and programmes that need proof

Proof of what a programme changes, told by the people who run it and the people it reaches. The brief behind most funder reports and trust applications.

EXPLORE

Animation

Patient information and explainers

Explains what can’t or shouldn’t be filmed, clearly enough to reassure someone before an appointment. Built with the clinical teams who’ll stand behind it.

EXPLORE

Documentary

Services, milestones and the people behind the work

Built from contributors speaking in their own words, for supporters, funders and peers who discount anything that reads as marketing. Suited to milestones and work that’s rarely seen.

EXPLORE

Educational Content

Public engagement, outreach and teaching resources

Built to teach what people may one day need to act on, then shared, screened and reused for years, in the languages your communities speak.

EXPLORE

Content Library

Fundraising events and year round content

One production day captured properly, then cut into a flagship film, social reels and a library of graded clips your team can keep using long after the event.

Not sure which fits?

That’s what the first call is for. We listen to your audience, your objective and your channels, then recommend a format. We’ll tell you the investment it needs, or suggest a smaller first step if that serves you better.

“Working with the FoSho crew over a number of projects has helped build a solid foundation of trust that has proved invaluable in streamlining communication and production as well as creating a creative, collaborative working relationship that produces exciting and inspiring content for a range of platforms.”

The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, 2024

Why a partner, not a crew

A crew shoots what it’s briefed to shoot, and for some jobs that’s the right service.

But a crew is rarely still involved three projects later. Tone, quality and trust drift. Contributors meet a new team every time. Brand guidelines, clinical sign off and safeguarding get rebuilt from scratch, along with who actually says yes. And your team spends as long managing suppliers as making decisions.

We stay. Our first documentary for BHF Scotland’s annual research lecture is now a series in its fourth year, and each film asks less of their team than the last. We carry what we know about your organisation from project to project, and we’ll tell you when a brief or a budget won’t do the job it’s meant to do.

The details that matter

The things that stop charity projects starting are production problems, and production problems have solutions.

  • Lived experience. We agree the approach with the charity first, then brief every contributor and offer them a call to meet the crew before anything is filmed. For The Circuit, that meant cardiac arrest survivors across all four UK nations, filmed in their own homes and where their lives were saved.

  • Sensitive subjects. Some stories need more care than others. All of Us, for Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis, tells the centre’s story through its Director, its service managers and the staff who deliver it every day, with the approach agreed with the centre before anyone was asked to take part.

  • Dates that don’t move. Awards nights, receptions and appeals don’t move, so we plan around confirmed elements: script approved, contributors named, access confirmed. All eighteen videos for the 2024 Living Wage Scotland Awards, from the opening film on the night to explainers on accreditation, were delivered on schedule.

  • Budgets under scrutiny. Charity budgets answer to trustees, funders, supporters and the press, so the spend has to show up on screen. The Power of Physical Activity for Parkinson’s UK was filmed in one day in Inverness by a two-person crew, and still delivered a flagship film, a trailer and two social reels.

Standard on every charity project

  • Single and secondary points of contact on our team and yours for direction and approval.
  • Contributors briefed in advance, free to withdraw at any stage, and nothing used without your approval.
  • Consent and safeguarding agreed for every contributor.
  • Structured review rounds through our online review system, with time built in for clinical, legal or safeguarding sign off.
  • Captions and subtitles as standard.
  • Purchase orders and supplier onboarding when you need them.
  • Crew are first aid trained, and production is risk assessed and insured.
  • We’re a Living Wage Employer and Cyber Essentials certified.

“From ideation to delivery their ambition, expertise and support were second to none, from supporting people with lived experience to tell their story to helping world-class researchers bring to life Prof Julian’s legacy their work was both professional and personal.“

British Heart Foundation Scotland

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do you work with national charities or smaller local ones?

Both. We’ve worked with the British Heart Foundation across all four UK nations since 2017, and with local charities such as Glasgow Care Foundation and Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis. Some projects come from marketing and communications, others from fundraising, policy or a funded programme.

Can you work through our procurement process?

Yes. We work to purchase orders and complete supplier onboarding as standard.

How do you look after contributors with lived experience?

We agree the approach with you first. Each contributor then gets an introduction from us by email, with a clear brief and the offer of a call to meet the crew before anything is filmed. They can withdraw at any stage, and nothing they share is used without your approval.

Can you work with our clinical, legal or safeguarding sign off?

Yes. Your reviewers see the script, or the animatic for animation, before production, and the edit again before approval. We build those rounds into the schedule from the start.

Can one production serve fundraising, comms and policy?

Usually, if it’s planned that way from the start. Bridging the Survival Divide premiered at BHF Scotland’s 2026 Parliamentary Reception, and the same production gave the team a social trailer and three social stories for the public.

Do we need a brief before the call?

No. A draft brief or examples of work you like are welcome. You’ll have a short written summary of the call and clear next steps within one to three business days.

How much does it cost?

Each format has a published investment range, confirmed once scope and contributor access are locked. If your budget won’t do the job, we’ll say so and suggest a smaller first step that will.

Next step

It starts with a conversation, not a brief.

  1. A 20-minute call. We talk about what you’re making, who it’s for and your timeline. We don’t scope or price on the call.
  2. A recommended format and investment tier. We send a Project Engagement Form.
  3. Supplier set up, if needed. If your organisation has a supplier onboarding process, we complete it.
  4. Purchase order and development. You sign the Project Engagement Form or raise a purchase order, and development starts.
